 JSC "First Power Generating Company on the Wholesale Energy Market" (OGK-1) carries out planned and systematic labor safety measures aiming at fewer industrial injuries and better working environment. The following measures are implemented:
- training on safe methods of work, industrial safety rules;
- training on the first aid using human mannequins;
- personnel testing under the program of ensuring psychophysiological safety of professional activities and personnel health protection by psychophysiological labs;
- certification of working sites according to safety rules;
- Safety Rule Days. These monthly activities envisage prevention of injuries at the power plant. On such days the following areas are checked – quality of safety rules training, availability of personal protection equipment, its practical usage, correct keeping of daily and technical documents, observation of work done under wok orders and directions;
- periodical “spot” checks of working sites to control fulfillment of safety rules;
- administrative and public three-stage control over safety rules use;
- daily patrol of the power station’s territory checking work permits and work plans;
- review of work planning system leading to directives to be discussed with personnel on a monthly basis;
- exemplary permits of subcontracting repair personnel on a monthly basis;
- before the beginning of winter ice period– measures aiming at prevention of traffic accidents and accompanying injuries as well as personnel injuries while walking on the power plant territory;
- production control including lab tests to check supervision of sanitary norms and rules;
- provision of milk or similar products to personnel engaged under harmful working conditions;
- examination of injury reports in the power producing industry;
- safety rules contests for the power station personnel.
